Spring Time

Dear Sweet Hunter,

Spring time is here and the weather is slowly warming up. Most days we start our day with a bunch of cuddles, some breakfast and then a walk to the park and back. You love the park at the moment, mainly for the saw dust flooring to play in, but also for the slippery slide.

For breakfast you are a bit fussy at the moment as you are still having breastmilk a lot of the time, but your favourite foods are popcorn, avocado and peanuts which you sometimes will have for breakfast.

Now with the warmer weather you love having water fights with mummy and the hose. We’ve been establishing vegetables and fruits in the garden which means lots of watering, but you love to help out with the hose as well.

If you are restless in the house all I have to do is go outside and your happy again. Sunshine, the kelpies and the chooks around you and you are in your element.

You’ve become incredible at ball skills. You pick up the soccer ball and throw it a good lob, and you’re able to dribble the ball with your feet. It amazes me how much you can do at 12 months old.

Everything about you excited me baby boy. You’ve got the whole world at your feet and you can do anything you set your mind to. Just look how early you walked, 8 months old. Your determined and will go a long way in this world.

12 months old and 6 health scares

Dear Hunter,

At only 12 months old you have had 6 health scares with mummy and daddy.

You have fallen off the lounge at 3 months old when you had decided to start rolling over early. You bumped your head on the floor and we ended up in the hospital straight away. They reassured us, even though it’s a scary and worrying time, it’s one of the most common admissions into the hospital. We had to monitor you in hospital for 4 hours to make sure you didn’t vomit or get unusually sleepy. You had another fall off the bed as well a few months after, but you were ok with close monitoring.

You’ve been into the hospital for when you stood on a nail. Which luckily healed up nicely and didn’t get infected.

Just recently you had fevers in the night time, but there was no other symptoms that you showed until the next day when you got sleepy and didn’t want to walk much. You ended up having a tick on your back. Luckily we got that one off and you started to feel much better by the next day. tick season is here now that spring is here, so we have to be extra careful.

Once you were carrying around a soda water bottle without the lid on it and you had it in your mouth. You tripped and the rim of the bottle jammed up between your front two teeth and the roof of your mouth. There was lots of blood, but it seemed to heal up quickly and didn’t stop you eating and drinking thank goodness.

Not that long ago you managed to pull open the locked bathroom cupboard door with your strong muscles. You found the tea tree oil bottle which had a lid on it, but it was loose. It leaked a bit in your mouth when you tipped it up. Luckily enough it was only a drizzle. I phoned the poisons hotline and they said to monitor you closely for vomiting or pain, unusual behaviour, but they reassured me that if it was less then 5mls it’s very unlikely to cause any harm.

So you certainly keep us on our toes. I love you so much and want to keep you so safe. But you are an inquisitive little boy and I love watching you discover and learn. Please no more scares now bubba.

Your going to be an incredible human adult one day little munchkin. I love your sweet adventurous nature.

I love you so much.

Love Mum xoxo 😘

The night before

Dearest Hunter,

Tonight is the night before I had you 1 year ago today. At this point in time I was in Macksville Hospital with your dad. I was having intense contractions and I remember not being able to find a comfortable position. Most of the night I spent curled over the end of the bed trying to brace myself for each contraction. I also had about 7 showers that night to comfort me and give me some relief from the pain.

Your dad and my world was about to change for the better. We have been so happy and grateful for you every single day. You make this world a better place.

Your smile makes other people smile. Your deep voice is the cutest. You are strong willed and I can tell you are going to be passionate about your passions. Always follow your heart as that will lead you to happiness my sweet boy.

You can do anything you want to in this world.

Henry Ford once said “there are two types of people in this world, those who think they can and those who think they can’t. They are both right.”

I hope you have the best first birthday. I can’t wait to celebrate you and your first year.

Due date

Dear Hunter,

Today was your due date 1 year ago. 14/8/2020. I was all belly in my pregnancy with you. I loved every feeling of being pregnant. Just knowing that you were with me everywhere I went made me feel the utmost content. Besides your daddy, I’d never had anyone love or understand me like him and you. I already knew you were special the first time I saw you on that first ultrasound at 9 weeks.

Every kick made me smile. You made everyday exciting. When I was working as a nurse in theatres in Coffs Harbour, each day I would stop and just feel you moving, or I’d listen to your heartbeat with a stethoscope.

This time one year ago I was so excited to meet you, everyday I was waking up wondering if today would be the day. I still didn’t know if you were a boy or a girl yet, although I did have a big feeling I knew you were a boy. I craved way too much protein and meat through your pregnancy.

You held in there until the 20th of August. Only 6 days late. Who could blame you, it’s so warm inside my belly.

Fun fact: before pregnancy I’d eat 2 avocados a day. During pregnancy I couldn’t eat them, as the smell would make me feel sick. But you actually love avocados, it’s your favourite food at the moment which I’m glad as I thought you might have been turned off them.
